The
Community aims to
communicate and nurture meditation as passed on through the teaching of
John Main, in the Christian tradition, in the spirit of serving the
unity of all.
The
School programme developing within WCCM is about passing on the
teaching of meditation, so if you have been meditating daily for at
least a year and are being to feel the itch to spread the word somehow
or other, or to feel more confident about doing that, the first stage
is:
THE WORKSHOP ON THE ESSENTIAL TEACHING
There are three opportunities this year:
Norwich (Noggs Barn, Little Melton) Saturdays 26 July & 2 August
Birmingham (Barnes Close, Bromsgrove) Fri 29 – Sun 31 August
London (Christian Meditation Retreat Centre, Cockfosters) Sat 27 – Sun 28 September
A participant at the last Workshop commented, “The manner in
which the teaching was communicated was so supportive as well as
informative. It felt more like a gift was being given to pass on
rather than being lectured on how to teach meditation.”
THE ROOTS OF CHRISTIAN MYSTICISM
course has been a wonderful development in the School, grounding the
practice of meditation in the Christian tradition. It was
pioneered in London by Kim Nataraja and has since been offered in
various ways in a number of countries. This year we have planned “The Roots of Christian Mysticism: a weekend introduction” at Morley Retreat Centre, nr Derby,
Fri 20 – Sun 22 June. This will be an excellent follow-on
to the Workshop on the Essential Teaching, but is open to anyone who is
interested.
THE SCHOOL RETREAT
is for those who have attended the Workshop on the Essential Teaching
and feel ready for the profound silence of a seven day intensive
meditation retreat, this year to be held at Noddfa, Penmaenmawr, on the
N.Wales coast, Thursday 6 – 13 November.
